I know it has been a a while (been working on my monumental drawing), but here's a new creature.

Description
Common Name: Thrym
Scientific Name: Gelubalena boreus (northern frost whale)
Length: Male-20 feet/ Female-17 feet
Weight: Male-3000lb/Female-2500lb
Diet: Filter Feeder

Biology
Thryms are very bizarre bipedal creatures that inhabit the northern tundra and plains of Lamenterra (northeast continent of Freyja). Despite their weight, they are capable of reaching speeds of 25 miles per hour. Thryms are jawless filter feeders. The bristles protruding from their jawless mouth is sticky, catching air-plankton as it passes by. After a significant amount is captured, the bristles retract into the mouth and the tongue licks up the air-plankton. In addition to their mouth being blocked with bristles, Thryms have no nostrils. Breathing takes place at the bottom of the chest cavity via a large air inlet. Even without vocal cords, Thryms can create beautiful whale-like sounds (www.youtube.com/watch?v=BuKijp…), giving them the nickname land whales, but as with whales on earth it is still unclear how. The armor on a thrym’s back is 3 feet thick at its thickest and capable of defending against predators. An obvious example of Sexual Dimorphism occurs in this creature. Males have two bioluminescent “wing” crests on the rear and are larger. Females lack these crests and are smaller. Thryms give birth to live young.

Behavior
Thryms are herd creatures that live in groups of up to 40 individuals. Herds are composed of males, females, and infants. When threatened by a land predator, adults form a circle of protection around the young with their heads facing outward. When an aerial predator threatens, the young hide under the adults.
Thryms have a wide range of vocalizations. During mating season, males sing to the females and flash their bioluminescent wing crests to impress them and intimidate rivals. If the female accepts she will sing with the male.
